Allow two hours minimum Group Rates: $13 - adult; $4 - child This walking tour of the Village's historic buildings offers you the opportunity to experience the Shakers' City of Peace at your own pace. Informative videos and friendly, knowledgeable staff are available in the historic buildings throughout the Village to bring the Shaker story to life. Demonstrations of traditional crafting and farm activities enhance your understanding of America's most successful utopian society. You'll want to extend your stay beyond two hours to appreciate fully the simple beauty and exceptional efficiency of Shaker architecture and artifacts; the power of religious beliefs echoed in song and everyday routine; the pastoral tranquility of the Village farm; and the earthy splendor of our gardens. Group Rates: $10-Adult; $6- Youth Learn about the Shakers' way of life as a guide takes you through the 1830 Brick Dwelling, 1826 Round Stone Barn, and Laundry/Machine Shop. The Brick Dwelling houses the bulk of Hancock's collection of Shaker furniture, household items and other artifacts. The Round Stone Barn is an architectural gem and the only Shaker barn of its kind. Its simple beauty typifies Shaker design. The Laundry/Machine Shop is one of the few Shaker buildings that allowed men and women to work in the same building; its 1858 turbine is illustrative of the Shakers' interest in technology. Prearranged catered meals are available. Advance reservation required.
